Wild boars destroyed the grass outside a four-star hotel and a busy shopping centre in a popular holiday area.

The first group, around seven pigs strong, grazed on the lawn outside the Wyndham Costa del Sol reception.

They were seemingly unfazed by cars zooming just feet away along the A-7 motorway in Las Lagunas, near Fuengirola, Spain.

“That’s a real road hazard,” said Laura.

“No wonder – we’re pushing them out of the hills to build luxury flats only tourists can afford,” added another local.

“The worst thing is they feed them like they’re cats,” said Jass.

It happened yesterday (28 Aug), and they were then seen on the grass outside a nearby mall, as reported by Need To Know.

About nine pigs were seen tearing up the Parque Fluvial in front of Fuengirola’s Miramar shopping centre, stripping the grass and churning up the soil with their snouts.

“Just like we’re destroying their habitat,” Isa noted.

“How vital hunting and wildlife management are,” said Inma.

Julián added: “For those complaining that we’ve invaded their habitat and wrecked it – I hope you actually live out in the middle of the mountains, because if not, you’re part of the problem too.”

“They’re so cute,” said Sole.

Frank remarked: “We built a bridge right in what’s always been their home, and people actually have the nerve to say they’re wrecking the grass?”

Regional authorities estimate that around 22,000 wild boars roam Málaga province.

Experts say their overpopulation is driven by a lack of natural predators, rapid breeding, and insufficient hunting.

With droughts making food and water scarce, sightings of wild boars in urban areas are becoming increasingly common.
