A car with fake reg plates was stopped by cops using a stinger – who then found out the driver was also drunk.

A force helicopter was used to keep tabs on the black BMW.

Road police officers on the ground then used the spike strip to bring the vehicle to a stop.

One said: “Successful sting, successful sting.”

Cops with a police dog and another with a taser ordered the motorist to get out.

Another shouted: “Get out of the car.

“Get out of the car, or I will drag you out.

“Get out.”

The driver was then breathalysed and was told to keep blowing into it.

“Keep going, keep going, keep going, stop,” one officer said.

“There you are.”

He then asked: “When was the last time you had a beer?”

The man replied: “Umm, 30 minutes ago.”

The cop added: “You’re also further arrested for driving that vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol.

“So you are double the legal limit, all right?”

It happened on 6 July at 5:17pm in Edmonton, north London, as reported on Need To Know.

The driver got slapped with a fine, banned from the road and had his car taken off him.

The Met Police revealed the arrest yesterday (4 Sept) in a video with Elvis Presley’s 1959 hit I Got Stung playing over it.

A force spokesperson said: “Stinger stops a drunk driver in his tracks.

“A car with a cloned license plate was spotted by officers in north London and brought to a safe stop with a stinger.

“The driver was breathalysed and found to be over twice the legal drink drive limit.

“He was arrested, fined, disqualified from driving, and the vehicle was seized.”

Local Elliot said: “Amazing work lads.”

David joked: “Finally, they did one right.”

A third added: “First time I’ve seen them actually catch someone with a stinger correctly.”
