A shameless thief has been caught red-handed nicking food from Greggs in front of a stunned police officer.

David Shurrock was caught on CCTV strolling into the bakery and helping himself to some “free” grub.

He was completely unaware a uniformed cop was watching the whole thing unfold.

The 34-year-old calmly walked in past the officer, grabbed items from the shelves and tried to make off, only to be immediately nabbed outside.

The bizarre incident, described as being “like a TV sketch”, was caught on town centre cameras, as reported by Need To Know.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police in Aylesbury Vale, Buckinghamshire, said: “Meet David Shurrock, 34, of Watermead, Aylesbury, caught on camera strolling through Aylesbury town centre, past a police officer, straight into Greggs.

“And helping himself to items without paying.

“Yes, you read that right. In front of a police officer.

“While it might sound like the start of a comedy sketch, this is real life, and shoplifting is no joke.

“Retail theft affects local businesses, staff, and the community. It’s not clever, it’s not funny, and it’s definitely not worth the sausage roll.

“Let’s be clear: stealing is a crime, whether it’s in broad daylight or behind closed doors.

“And doing it in front of us?

“That’s just asking for trouble.”

Thames Valley Police has been approached for comment.
