A mother was left shocked after panic-buying Brits cleared out a supermarket due to Storm Goretti hitting the nation.

Jennifer Marsh could not believe her eyes after her evening trip to Asda exposed fear mongers in her community.

The 30-year-old popped into the supermarket to see half of the shelves in the shop completely cleared out.

According to the mum-of-two, her mother-in-law, who works at the shop, claimed everything was fine until the storm warning.

Shelves usually stacked with fresh vegetables, bread and meat were completely emptied with the nation preparing for the worst.

Jennifer had popped out to get baby milk for her daughter at 6:30pm on Thursday (8 Jan) to the store in Sedgley, Dudley, West Midlands.

Around an hour later, the local area had its first signs of snow as the UK was hit with Storm Goretti.

From heavy snowfall to 100mph winds, the storm is wreaking havoc across the nation.

With travel warnings being issued, shoppers seem to be stocking up and battening down the hatches.

“I think panic buying is silly when the snow is predicted for a couple of days,” Jennifer told Need To Know.

“But I can understand why people do it if they are anxious about the snow and when they will next get to leave the house.

“The shelves which were mainly empty were the fresh produce like fruit and vegetables, bread, eggs, fresh meats, and also the pastry and waffles.

“Also, baby milk was running low, and I had to ask to see if they had what I needed in the warehouse.

“All the local schools around me are closed due to the snow.

“Cars were getting stuck on our road, left, right and centre last night as we live on a hill and we had cars being dumped as people gave up on their journeys.”
