A gynaecologist has been killed by a boat propeller while enjoying a tourist trip.
Dr. Julie Nataly Bohórquez was taking time out from a medical conference when tragedy struck.
The 42-year-old hired an inflatable boat with an outboard motor with colleagues.

According to reports, the operator lost control of the dinghy and it flipped over, sending the occupants into the water.
The vessel then ran over Dr. Bohórquez and the propeller reportedly shredded her chest and upper limbs.
The fatal accident took place off the coast of Isla Barú near Cartagena, Colombia, on Sunday (15 Mar).
The victim, who lived in Florencia in the southern department of Caquetá, had attended the medical conference in Cartagena with colleagues and friends, as reported by Need To Know.

The group visited Isla Barú on their day off before returning home.
Dr. Bohórquez, who had over 15 years of experience as an obstetrician-gynaecologist, was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
Health official Rafael Navarro España said: “She suffered multiple chest traumas, blunt force trauma and penetrating chest trauma, in addition to wounds to her right upper limb and upper extremities.
“Unfortunately, she arrived in cardiac arrest.
“Resuscitation manoeuvres were performed for approximately 40 to 45 minutes.”
Despite the medical team’s best efforts, the victim died due to the severity of her injuries.

A spokesperson for the regional government of Caquetá said: “We express our deepest condolences to the victim’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire team at the María Inmaculada Departmental Hospital, offering a prayer for her eternal rest and asking for strength and comfort for those who mourn her loss.”
The General Maritime Directorate confirmed that they have opened an investigation to “clarify the circumstances in which the accident occurred”.
