In mid-air, the plane developed a fault with the cockpit windshield while the plane was flying over Chihuahua region.
The pilot turned the aircraft back for a safe emergency landing at Mexico City’s international airport.
Passengers reported a tense atmosphere inside the cabin, with many left shaken by the sudden realisation they were flying back to the capital on a compromised aircraft.
Wendy Guevara, a well-known reality TV personality with over eight million Instagram followers, said: “We were already on our way, we had been flying for two hours or a bit more.
“The windshield shattered and now we’re all going back to board another plane, but everything is fine.”
She later added that the airline planned to repair the damaged windshield on the same aircraft.
Wendy expressed frustration at the disruption: “They say the windshield came loose.
“I feel like this situation is very strange.
“What a fright, and on top of that everyone is tired after seven hours of flight only to return to where we started.”
Daniela Alexis, better known as La Bebeshita, described the moment the announcement was made.
“We were supposed to be in Korea, but God had other plans.”
The influencer, who boasts over 3 million Instagram followers, added: “What a fright… I started praying.”
Lolita Cortés, a veteran singer-actress with over 380,000 Instagram followers, recounted the events from the airport in the early hours.
She said: “It’s about four in the morning and we’re at Mexico City airport because the pilot said one of the windows cracked, or something like that, and we had to return.”
Model Celia Lora lambasted the airline’s safety standards on social media upon arrival, pointing out that Mexico is meant to welcome the world for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in a few weeks’ time.

Other passengers included influencers and personalities such as Kunno, Celia Lora, Vanessa ‘Labios 4K’, Gaby Ramírez, Tania Vázquez, Nacho Casano, Queen Buenrostro, María Luisa Valdés and television host Pedrito Sola.
Many documented the tension and subsequent wait at the airport on their social channels.
The group was reportedly travelling together as part of a promotional trip organised by a travel agency marking an anniversary, as reported by Need To Know.
Aviation tracking data confirmed the jet safely landed back at Mexico City International Airport on Sunday, where it was immediately met by ground maintenance crews.
All passengers disembarked without injuries and had to wait for repairs to take place.
