A body positivity model has made a candid announcement that abuse against plus-size women has become ‘100 times worse’ as she reveals feeling ‘shame’ around size.

Alex Aspasia is well-known for showing off her voluptuous curves no matter what.

The 31-year-old’s brand is focused around self-love and body positivity – but, in recent months, this has shifted towards negativity.

The model, who weighs 380lbs, has now taken to social media to share the ‘animosity’ she’s been receiving of late in a candid post, which has racked up 186,000 views and over 7,000 likes.

Alex says the way she, and other plus-size women, are being treated in society is “really hurtful”.

“I’ve noticed a shift in energy,” the size 26 model told Need To Know.

“I believe it’s tied to culturally what’s relevant right now, what’s considered the trendy beauty standard and the look.

“We know people are just really condemning bigger people; their lifestyles.

“I’ve always felt judgement, shame around my size and a lot of emotions.

“I’m tired of what being a bigger person in society has made me feel like.

“It’s 100 times worse right now.

“It’s just so crazy that we are dealing with very difficult times.

“Instead of loving our neighbours, we’re judging them.

“I feel like everyday I’m bombarded with online message from people trying to get me to use [skinny jabs].

“Also people in my real life who I know have used them to lose weight have told me to get on them.

“But I refuse.”

Alex notes that those who are plus-size are “good people” who have been through rough times.

She said: “Either we’re emotionally eating or hold onto stress that messes up our hormones and makes losing weight harder.

“Or even just simply being a person sometimes – things get messed up.

“Bodies are diverse and it’s just horrible that we don’t treat each other with respect.

“And that through all these hard times right now, instead of coming together, we’re choosing to make fun of one another.

“It’s so sad.”

Alex captioned the post: “It’s time to have a talk.

“How I’m treated as a plus-size woman in today’s society really hurts.”

Users have flocked to the comments to share their words of support.

Another plus-size influencer said: “It’s really bad out here right now. I’ve recently received death threats over my latest post and it’s absolutely pointless. You are absolutely stunning, your aura is literally giving iconic.”

“I’m so sorry love. I been going thru [alot] of hate myself for different reasons but I’m not understanding all the hate in the world. When we should all love everyone no matter what,” said Monica.

Someone else added: “Screw what everyone says, they don’t know no good. You’re beautiful, incredible and amazing.”

“You’re my absolute fave, the sweetest soul,” commented Ash.

“I have totally experienced the same thing and that really hasn’t been my experience in the past. We’re living in the age of Ozempic which got people losing their minds. We just gotta support each other. You’re absolutely stunning from head to toe inside and out. Let’s focus on that and walk in our purpose. They can’t take that away,” commented Leslie.

Alex, who hails from Miami, US, recently revealed how she thinks the world has “gone mad” for “skinny jabs” and going under the knife.

She added: “I feel like we have fallen so far from what natural beauty is that when you see a natural woman’s body, people are sometimes almost disgusted by it.

“[Mostly] because they are so far removed from what natural is versus being manufactured beauty these days.

“The world has gone mad.”
