A chunky cat has gone viral on Instagram for weighing 1.2 stone – and its owner has no idea why the pet is so big.
Abbe Nelson from Northern Georgia, US, works as a renewal manager and adopted her five-year-old American short hair, Swayze, on 14 July 2016.
Despite putting the feline on a strict diet, Abbe is surprised to find her cat remains very big, currently weighing in at 1.2 stone (16.8lbs).
Swayze sees the vet regularly and is in good health, and Abbe’s other cats eat twice as much as the chubby feline.
Abbe has even tried to put the cat on a prescription diet, which didn’t work.
The chubby feline has amassed over 32,100 followers on her Instagram page (@swayzebegs) thanks to her unique look – and social media users can’t get enough of her.

“A big fat beautiful tabby cat,” wrote someone else.
“What a stunning pic!! A Queen!!,” another fan of the chunky cat wrote.
“I wish I knew why Swayze is so big,” Abbe told Jam Press.
“All my other cats are thin, one of my other cats eats two times as much as Swayze and she is half her size.
“I limit Swayze to very little food. and I don’t leave food in her bowl all day.
“She has been on a prescription diet and that didn’t work. I just limit her food and she has lost some but she is stuck at 16.8lbs.
“I feed her half a can of wet food two times a day and sometimes feed her 1/8 cup of dry, but not on a regular basis.
“I don’t give her snacks or treats except, cheese but it is so rare that I give it to give her.”
