A cathedral has gone dog friendly – with water stations and treats available for four-legged worshippers.
Chichester Cathedral is now welcoming pooches in a bid to make it more inclusive for owners.
Canines will be able to visit the grounds between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Saturday.
The dogs can also visit 12:30pm and 2:30pm on the Sabbath too.
They must remain on a lead and owners must clean up after them.
Any dogs disturbing other visitors will be booted out.
They can also stop off for food and drinks stops with water stations and treats dotted around.
Reverend Canon Simon Holland – who now won’t be the only one in a dog collar – said: “We cannot wait to welcome our four-legged friends into the cathedral.
“Dogs are such an important part of our daily lives, bringing so much love and joy to their families.
“We hope that by making the cathedral a dog-friendly space, our visitors will be able to make more meaningful memories with their canine companions.”
Locals in the West Sussex city have praised the move.
Mike Trodd said: “Hallelujah. Wonderful news.”
Sarah Morris said: “This is the best news.
“I’m going to visit now. I think you will find your visitor numbers go up.”
Lucia Barbato added: “Have always found it peculiar how the house of God could exclude them.”
But Dinah Ruth Honey said: “What about people who are allergic to dogs?”
