Bizarre deep-sea ‘smiling’ fish compared to s*x toy

A deep-sea fisherman has shared a picture of his latest bizarre catch – a ‘smiling’ fish whose unique look has been compared to a sex toy.

Roman Fedortsov works on a trawler in Murmansk in the northwest part of Russia and has devoted his career to searching for creatures unknown.

He spends months of his life at sea, much to the delight of his 651,000 followers on Instagram (@rfedortsov_official_account), where he often shares snaps of frightening-looking creatures from the depths he’s found.

His latest catch is a Molva, also known as the white ling, found in the northern Atlantic off Europe.

A picture of the catch shows the fish appearing to smile at the camera with large, fleshy lips – leading to a rather unflattering comparison to a Fleshlight sex toy.

Garnering over 2,770 likes on Instagram, one user commented on the post: “Fleshlight from the sea.”

“Yet another under the sea wonder!”, another person commented.

Someone else quipped: “My face when I wake up in the morning.”

“A radiant smile,” joked another user.

Someone else said: “With a smile!”

Roman has previously made headlines for his strange catches, including a goblin shark, a rare species of deep-sea shark.

Dubbed a “living fossil”, goblins sharks are the only surviving member of the Mitsukurinidae family, a lineage of sharks dating back 125 million years old.

The prehistoric beast has a characteristic long snout and sharp, fang-like teeth, which can be seen in a picture snapped by Roman.

Roman shared a picture of the rare catch with his followers, which racked up over 5,700 likes and left users likening it to a creature from the Alien movie franchise.
