A quick-thinking man has been hailed for preventing a disaster after spotting a car rolling down a hill.
Hero Dan Peters feared the silver Vauxhall Corsa which had its handbrake off could have careered into people, other vehicles or a building.
He and other locals saw the hatchback slipping down a hill.
They came up with a plan and gathered some wood to put under the wheels.
Miraculously, this stopped the car crashing into anything and no one was hurt.
The car stopped moving but was left in the middle of the street by a cemetery in Halifax, West Yorkshire on Sunday (20 Aug).
Dan said: “If this is your car, you’ve left the handbrake off and we’ve just stopped it going further into the road.
“We’ve put wood under the wheels to stop it rolling further.
“Lucky nobody was coming down that road. It’s near Siddal Cemetery.”
Locals praised Dan for his actions.
One, named Adnan, said: “Well done for stopping it rolling further.”
”Well done for stopping it,” said another, called Sue.
”Saints,” said a third.
Hannah said: “Well done to the guy posting and stopping a disaster.”
