A mum-of-one has revealed her incredible eight-stone weight loss after becoming “too scared” to leave the house due to cruel strangers.
When Jenny Toole gave birth to her son, Kristan, six years ago, she turned to takeaways and sugary foods in a bid to fuel her busy life as a new mum.

The full-time carer quickly became “trapped” in a vicious cycle and claims strangers often shouted harsh names at her while in the street, which left her “too scared” to leave the house.
At her heaviest, she weighed 21 stone and wore a UK dress size 28.
Then, in December 2022, the mum, aged 31, was rushed to hospital after suffering a health scare, where medics advised Jenny that there would be “serious consequences” if she didn’t lose weight.
“I wanted my life back instead of just existing and feeling miserable – this frightened me into doing something about it,” Jenny, from Manchester, told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
“I realised that I couldn’t take my life or health for granted and I couldn’t waste any more of it being the way I was.
“Time is extremely precious and I wasn’t making the most of it.
“I couldn’t walk as I was too heavy, and even standing doing the dishes, would cause intense pain in my back.

“I despised what I saw looking back at me in the mirror.
“I’d sometimes get heckled in the street by people driving past me, who shouted derogatory comments out the window.
“They’d say things such as: ‘You’ve banged it on’ or ‘You’re absolutely massive.’
“Family and friends started to get concerned for me, so the anxiety of worrying about what others would say stopped me from leaving the house completely.
“I knew my son and partner needed me to be fit and healthy, especially because I was missing out on life and thought my time was almost up.”
Jenny had tried various diets before, such as a low-carbohydrate intake, but these were difficult to maintain.
But, due to her aforementioned health scare, where she was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia, inflammation of the oesophagus, and severe acid reflux, she knew something needed to change.
Before, she used to eat junk and sugary foods, along with “endless” cups of coffee [see below for full list].
Now, she focuses on high-protein meals, while avoiding spicy, rich or acidic foods, as well as dairy.
The mum also goes to the gym five times a week, where she does weight training and cardio, alongside long walks and hikes.
Eight months later, she’s now a UK dress size 14 and weighs 13 stone.
Jenny claims the transformation has improved her relationship with her boyfriend, Matt, 31 and her social life, as well as her ability to spend precious time with her son.
She added: “I’m going out with friends again instead of shutting myself away, as I feel confident.
“I’m no longer ill, I don’t struggle with daily tasks and I’m able to enjoy the things I wasn’t able to do, like playing with my son.

“Before, I had such a bad relationship with food and would often binge eat whenever I was stressed.
“Now, I love eating and focus on fueling my body so I get the most out of each day.
“Mindset is everything and it’s not just about losing weight, it’s about what can be achieved because of doing so.
“The scales only tell half the story, so don’t get stressed over numbers and most importantly, enjoy the journey.
“It doesn’t have to be a gruelling punishment.
“I feel absolutely incredible and I can’t describe how happy I am.
“For the first time in six years, I feel comfortable in my own skin and
“I’m finally getting the old me back.”
