Fran Guzmán Hernández was filming himself wake surfing when he suffered the scare far from the shore. In his video, Fran sounds terrified as he yells: “Something bit me. “It’s under my foot. Get away.” But as he fumbles with his camera to film the fierce predator underwater, he reveals a majestic dolphin instead. Noticeably relieved, he exclaims: “Amazing.” Fran shared his video on social media on 23 August and it has since been watched a whopping 1.3 million times. He goes by the name Fran Bowtie on TikTok, where he describes himself as an “adventurer, cyclist, and DJ”. Fran, who is from the Canary Islands, captioned his video: “Feeling something on your foot in the middle of the sea”. He filmed it off the coast of Spain’s Galicia region this summer. Fran added: “At first, I got a bit scared since I didn’t know what it was. “Then I breathed more calmly.” One person commented: “People think that dolphins are nice. They can kill you, dude.” Several locals said the dolphin Fran filmed is called Manoliño and is well known in the area. Noelia wrote: “We all know him in the estuary; he approaches anyone in the water who’s moving. He just wants to play.” ENDS EDITOR’S NOTES: Quotations have been translated to English.
