An urban explorer has discovered an abandoned mortuary, complete with a porcelain slab and bags of human ashes.
Ben James, 29, discovered the site in Cambridgeshire, claiming it was closed three years ago.
Walking through the site, he found bags of human ashes left behind in the mortuary fridge, as well as sealed erns.
Sharing his find on Instagram (@places_forgotten ) he has amassed over 67,300 followers.
“The porcelain slab is very 1960s which was obviously bizarre,” the professional explorer told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
“There were about five or six people’s ashes in there dating back to 1993.
“It felt very creepy.
“On the way out I met a security guard who said he would not go in the building because it is very haunted.”
The site was closed in 2020, with equipment and remains being left behind to rot.
Posting images of the site to Instagram his followers flocked to comment.
One person wrote: “I smell death here it’s horrible place really”
Ian commented: “That headrest does not look very comfy.”
“That’s got to be the cleanest embalming room I’ve ever seen an abandoned place,” said one follower.
“I can’t gather the right words. But this is the most “comforting, refreshing, & pleasant, abandoned morgue, I have ever seen.
“The view from the embalming table, 10/10,” another person commented.
Rebecca added: “Can we not scatter the ashes let them be free.”
