A woman has gone viral after spraying rice water on her face daily for two weeks straight, claiming her skin is brighter and clearer for using the “anti-ageing elixir”.
Lisa Baisl, a digital creator and beauty influencer, decided to try the rice water hack after seeing a video of someone trying the ‘miracle’ trend.
Fermenting some rice water, she started spraying it on her face daily, claiming her skin looked younger, less inflamed and more hydrated, even reducing her acne.
Sharing a video of this on Instagram (@lisa .beautify) she quickly gained over 38.4m views from people rushing to try the trend.
“I tested this hack for about two weeks and it felt like it did, in fact, brighten my skin and I noticed fewer breakouts,” the 30-year-old, from New York, told NeedToKnow.
“Not every DIY works, but this certainly can!
“Rice water has ‘time-turning’ properties that blur away premature signs of ageing, like fine lines and wrinkles
“It’s known to be rich in antioxidants and is an excellent skin-brightening ingredient.
“It brightens and fades dark spots and pigmentation when used regularly.”
In the video, she can be seen rinsing a cup of long-grain rice twice before soaking it for half an hour.
She then stores it in a jar for two days to allow it to ferment before spraying it on her face daily.
She added: “Korean women have been using rice water for centuries for skin whitening and brightening.”
“I will continue using the rice water hack to see what other results I can achieve with it as it’s super easy to incorporate into one’s skincare routine.
“I love testing different beauty hacks from around the world and sharing them with my followers, and this one positively surprised me.”
