A doctor has gone viral on TikTok revealing the disturbing reason why you should reportedly never use your phone while on the toilet.
Daria Sadovskaya, 29, a nephrologist [kidney specialist] of seven years, often shares everyday health insights and medical facts with her 120,000 followers.
But her recent post has left viewers horrified after the doctor claimed that a common bathroom habit could actually lead to a devastating diagnosis.
In one video, the doctor can be seen giggling before suddenly stopping, with the caption: “POV: I’m laughing but then I remember people are still pooping with their phones, not knowing it could lead to cancer.”
She also shared a second clip, showing herself innocently sitting (clothed) on the toilet while scrolling on her phone.
She then mimes a monster, saying it is the “colorectal cancer it can cause”.
“When you use your phone while sitting in the toilet, you get very distracted and lose track of time – which makes it a lot more likely that you’ll spend 10+ minutes on the toilet,” Dr Daria, from Singapore, told NeedToKnow.co.uk.

“This puts unnecessary pressure on your rectum, which can lead to things like haemorrhoids and diverticulosis.
“Which can then lead to diverticulitis and increase your risks of getting colorectal cancer.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), colorectal cancer is a disease in which cells in the colon or rectum grow out of control.
TikTokkers were disturbed by the news, with many taking to the comments to question the claim.
One person said: “Girl what.”
“HOW?” another user asked.
Someone else joked: “Because people are sitting too long? Asking for my bf [laughing emoji].”
“We need more details,” said another concerned user.
Someone else quipped: “Unless you are a mom. Moms are safe. We poop in 2.5 seconds.”

Another viewer said they were pooping while on their phone as they viewed the clip.

Dr Daria previously made headlines after revealing the disturbing reason we should always tie our hair up before using the toilet.
She previously told NeedToKnow.co.uk: “Most people’s lives are driven by routines and habits, and some of the tiniest habits can negatively affect your health and you’re not even aware of it.
“That’s why I find it important to create awareness around these small habits and help people change their routines for the healthier.
“The most important reason to wear your hair up in the bathroom is to prevent germs and bacteria from spreading around.
“You may face unpleasant consequences such as acne if you don’t do it.
“There are many bathroom-related tips to improve your health and hygiene.
“To name just a few of them: avoid scented toilet paper, avoid intimate washes, stop taking hot showers, stop using loofah, brush your teeth only before doing your skincare.”
Despite often facing backlash for her videos, the medical professional says it is important to her to raise awareness for little-known issues.
She said: “I believe your health is the most valuable thing a person has.
“That’s why I am glad and grateful to have a following that makes it possible to spread an important message to millions of people.
“If at least one person will be inspired by my videos to take better care of their health, I’ll be more than happy.”
