A dad-of-two has been arrested for allegedly decapitating his wife before parading her severed head along a busy street.
Anil Kanaujiya Rajgeer is accused of attacking Vandana Kanaujiya with a sickle.
The married couple, who had two children together, had been separated for some time.
They had recently attended counselling from the police following several domestic allegations.
However, when Mason Rajgeer, 30, learned that his wife had attended a wedding in the company of another man, he allegedly flipped.
The murder took place in the village of Basara, Uttar Pradesh, India, on Friday (16 Feb) morning.
After the gruesome killing, the suspect was filmed parading his wife’s head through the village while also brandishing a large bloodied blade.
The macabre scene appeared to shock a number of villagers, including dozens of passengers on a passing bus.
Stunned eyewitnesses informed the police and Rajgeer was arrested.
Police spokesperson Dinesh Kumar Singh said: “The accused attacked the woman with a sickle in a fit of rage in the room where they stayed.
“The accused beheaded the woman and started walking to the police station, holding the severed head and the sickle in his hand.”
The investigation into Vandana’s death continues.
