Hero medics managed to save a baby via C-section moments before his nurse mum tragically died from a sudden illness.
Heart-wrenchingly, Laura Porta had written on social media weeks earlier: “One day we’ll tell you about how much we love you.”
Tragic Laura was at home with her partner, Antonio, on Sunday (18 Feb) when she was suddenly taken ill.
Emergency medics arrived on the scene and stabilised the 37-year-old, who was eight months pregnant.
She was taken to hospital in critical condition as medics urgently discussed what course of action to take.

They chose to give her an emergency C-section to save her baby boy, whom the couple had already named Andrea.
The newborn was taken from the general hospital in Pistoia, Italy, to a paediatric hospital in Florence in critical condition.
Despite the medics’ best efforts, Laura died shortly after her baby was delivered.
Her body will be autopsied, but the current evidence suggests she either had a cardiac arrest or a brain bleed.
The medics believe the sudden illness put her baby in critical condition.
At the time of reporting, the infant was still in the neonatal ICU with a guarded prognosis.
Laura was from Bolotana and started working as a nurse in 2021.
She worked in Prato and volunteered as a first aider in Pistoia.
She was on maternity leave at the time of her passing.
Laura had made a heart-wrenching social media post in December addressed to her future son.
She’d written: “One day we’ll tell you about how Mummy and Daddy met, about the times they crossed paths in the work corridors, about when Mum confronted Dad with a frown.
“One day we’ll tell you about how we fell in love, about the distant months and how difficult it was, about all the times we supported each other and held hands, never letting go.
“And then we’ll tell you about when we found out about you, about when our world turned blue, about the tears of joy and laughter.
“We’ll tell you about the time we spend feeling your kicks, about how we daydream about you, and about how much we love you.”
