A famous statue of William Shakespeare’s Juliet has been damaged after tourists continually grope their breasts for ‘good luck.’
The boob area is discoloured, thought to be from the sweaty palms groping it every day.
Now, a small hole has appeared on the statue on Juliet’s right boob.

The statue is located in the courtyard of Juliet’s House and Museum on Via Cappello in Verona, Italy.
It is positioned underneath the famous balcony where Romeo declares his love for her in Shakespeare’s beloved tragedy.
Over the years, visitors to the landmark have grown accustomed to fondling Juliet’s breasts for good luck.
However, the now-damaged statue is not the original piece by sculptor Nereo Costantini, forged in 1972.
It was moved inside the museum in 2014 to safeguard the original monument.
A copy was then positioned in the courtyard to bear the brunt end of tourists’ attention.
It is unclear if museum officials plan to carry out restoration work on the damaged statue.
