A toned fitness influencer has told how she ended up with an eye patch – allegedly after using hair wax.
Bruna Ianhez took to social media to warn her female followers about the product’s reported dangers.
In a video shared on Monday (8 April), the Brazilian claimed: “On Saturday, I braided my hair for an event in São Paulo, and on Sunday morning, I was going to run 22km.

“As soon as I started running, I began to sweat, and the hair wax I’d applied to the braid started dripping into my eye.
“I spent the entire 22km rubbing my eye.”
By that evening, Bruna says she couldn’t open her right eye and had to see an ophthalmologist.
She said: “Red eye, blurry vision, I thought I wouldn’t be able to see properly again.
“It was terrifying, I confess.”
After a series of examinations, the doctor diagnosed her with mild keratitis – inflammation of the cornea.
Bruna said she had to bandage up her eye to keep her eyelid from moving, as reported on Need to Know.
She added: “That’s why it’s very important to know the products you use on your face and hair before exercising.
“Unfortunately, it was an unusual product that I got at the salon and ended up using.
“And it’s not the salon’s fault, it’s nobody’s fault.”
The CrossFit athlete said she’d decided to share her story to raise awareness about the risks of using hair products.
She said: “Our eyes are very delicate, and often, the consequences can be irreversible.”
Bruna boasts shy of a million followers and subscribers across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
Despite the scare, her treatment is working and she’s now doing well.
She even joked that the bandage made her look like a “pirate of the Caribbean”.
