He strolls over to the shirtless victim as he sits on the edge of the court waiting for his chance to play with his pals.
The pair appear to exchange a few brief words before the gunman raises his arm.
He shoots Gabriel Justino de Souza Barros in the face at point-blank range before legging it across the sports court.
The shot teen’s pals disperse in panic as others on the pitch begin to run out of the exit.
The horror unfolded in broad daylight on Saturday (13 Apr), as reported on Need to Know.
Gabriel was still alive when he was taken to a local hospital in Recife, Brazil, but he ended up dying from his injuries.
His devastated family told local media he’d been killed because he’d liked a photo of a young woman, believed to be the suspect’s girlfriend, on Instagram.
The police, however, are still investigating the motive.
At the time of reporting, no arrests had been made.
Gabriel was laid to rest in Recife on Monday (15 Apr).
The investigation is ongoing.
