A family was left in shock when a lightning bolt struck their home while they were drinking tea on the patio.
After several days of storms, they went outside to enjoy their drinks as the weather was muggy and they wanted to watch the rain.
However, the family get-together nearly turned to tragedy, when a lightning bolt sent sparks flying from their tin roof.
The CCTV clip shows the family members on the patio just as an enormous thunderclap and flash of lightning fill the air.
The lightning bolt zaps the tin roof and a shower of sparks falls onto the floor.
The residents jump to their feet in shock as the neighbourhood is plunged into darkness due to a power cut.
They consider sitting back down at the table, but another thunderclap rings out like an exploding bomb and they hurry inside as the storm continues.
The family was enjoying mate, a traditional South American-infused herbal drink, when the lightning struck their home in Resistencia, northeast of Cordoba, Argentina, on Wednesday (1 May).
According to reports, one lightning strike split a tree trunk in half in the immediate area.
The National Weather Service has warned locals that more harsh weather is expected in the coming days, as reported by Need To Know.
