The car rolls over the toddler and the motorist continues driving without stopping to help.
The youngster tries to get to her feet, but falls to the ground twice, dazed from being hit by the car.
The two-year-old child suffered a serious head injury in the incident in Paranoá, near the Brazilian capital, Brasília, yesterday (3 Jun).
She was taken to hospital where she received nine stitches to a gash on her head.
Doctors monitored her condition before allowing her to continue her recovery at home, as reported by Need To Know.
The girl’s mother said she didn’t know the gate was open and the children were playing outside while she was cooking dinner.
The driver later turned himself over to the police that same night and reportedly admitted to running over the child and fleeing the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
