Rushing to the hospital around 9am the next day, the 57-year-old was swiftly admitted.
A team of ENT doctors did a series of scans and discovered the teeth stuck in the upper part of her food pipe.
With Subbulakshmi’s oxygen level dropping, she was urgently booked in for surgery.
This was carried out by Dr Suresh, Dr Mathew Jackson and Dr Priyanka.
They performed an oesophagoscopy, which took just 45 minutes and thankfully went by without any complications.
The surgery took place at Virudhunagar Government Medical College Hospital on 25 May, as reported by Need To Know.
Subbulakshmi remained in hospital for observation for two days but has since made a full recovery.
The case was described as uncommon by Dean Seethalakshmi, who urged people with dentures to get regular check-ups.
Prior to the incident, the patient had not had one herself for 11 years.
