During the event, held at the Abbey of Santa Bona in Vidor, Italy, Alex disappeared.
Other attendees told the police they had seen him walk off alone around 3am on Sunday (30 Jun) without telling anyone.
They began searching for him, but after finding no trace, they called the police around 7am.
He had left his car, documents and phone behind.
Alex was first spotted from a Fire Brigade helicopter in the early afternoon, as reported on Need To Know.
His lifeless body was stranded on an islet in the Piave River in Ciano del Montello.
The hard-to-access spot, surrounded by dense vegetation, is four to five km downstream from Vidor.
Preliminary findings show he did not die a violent death, according to local reports.
Alex was from Marcon, close to Venice, and worked at a bar.
His devastated mother Sabrina is baffled by his passing.
She told local media: “He was a brilliant young man, a lover of life. He would never have left like this.
“My son would not have disappeared into thin air, he was full of dreams and desires.
“And above all, he wouldn’t have left without his mobile phone.”
Claims that Alex was maybe involved with satanic cults in the past are to be investigated by cops.
