A brave man has been caught on camera saving a stranded shark on a British beach.
The incredible scenes were filmed at Alum Chine in Dorset.
When Chad Chadwick spotted the three-and-a-half foot long creature, he realised it was a smooth hound.
It had become stuck on the tide line and would likely have died without quick intervention.
In the clip, Chad can be seen scooping up the predator by its tail.
He then wades into deeper water to release the shark, despite it appearing to try and bite him.
His wife Kiiz filmed the shocking scene and can be heard saying, “Well done” as the shark swims off into deeper waters.
She had never seen a living shark on a beach before.
“You don’t often see them that far in,” she told Need To Know.
“Not unless they’re already dead and washed up.
“It swam back out with ease.
“We hung around for a while after it was released and it didn’t return.”
Smooth hounds can grow from four to five feet in length and are fairly common on the south coast of Britain.
