A woman has been arrested after she reportedly confessed to killing her son in a Facebook post.
Three-year-old, Theo Kaio Braga Lopes, died on Wednesday (7 August), with an autopsy giving his cause of death as mechanical asphyxiation.
The suspect – whose name has been withheld in local press – was arrested on Wednesday (7 August) after writing the following words on her social media post: “I killed my son, send a patrol car.”

The police say that after murdering Lopes in Saquarema, Brazil, his mother carried the child’s body to her own mother and confessed to strangling him.

The horrified grandmother and her neighbours rushed Theo to A&E, but he was already dead.
The youngster would have turned four in September.

In her online confession, the mother also posted her home address, according to local reports.
After her arrest, police chief, André Bueno, told local media she seemed “very apathetic” at the station, adding: “She didn’t want to speak, didn’t say anything, not even about the case or why she killed her own son.”
Bueno confirmed they have formally charged her with the crime and said she will face charges for the homicide of a child under 14.

She was kept in custody and faces a custody hearing today (9 August), as reported by Need To Know.
Lopes was laid to rest on Thursday (8 August) afternoon.
If convicted, the mother faces two to 30 years in prison.
