She is reported to have lost her balance and fallen as the bus driver took a curve at speed.
It is not clear why the rear door was open when the bus was moving or why Georgina was walking down the stairs at the time.
It is possible the driver pulled away from a stop before everyone had alighted or that passengers had asked him to keep the doors open because of the heat.
Georgina, 19, who was 28 weeks pregnant, was taken from the scene to a hospital in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Medics were unable to save her unborn baby, who tragically died on Saturday (14 Sept) from severe polytrauma.
Reports say the accident happened as Georgina travelled to the city centre to go shopping for baby bits ahead due date.
The Adelita de Char Hospital stated: “The mother remains in critical condition with an uncertain prognosis in the adult unit.
“All necessary medical efforts are being made.”
The police have confirmed that the case is under investigation, as reported by Need To Know.
