They were crawling along at about 5mph to provide an impromptu rolling roadblock.
Other drivers on the six-lane, 40mph stretch of the Great West Road – also known as the A4 – were forced to be patient.

They had to slowly file past the swan which was just a stones throw from the Premier League club’s 17,250-capacity Gtech Community Stadium.
It happened on the Brentford stretch of the road which links the M4 and west London on Sunday (7 Oct).
A car user stuck in traffic heading into the capital in the opposite direction captured the bizarre moment on their phone.
The swan remained in the west bound carriageway despite the traffic jam it caused.
Stunned pedestrians watched on in bemusement.
The 47-second video then came to an end, as reported on Need To Know.
The swan came from the River Thames which is less than half a mile away.
One local joked: “If I had wings and could fly for miles, I wouldn’t be waddling in the road.”

Another quipped: “I am surprised the swan hasn’t permanently migrated from this third world country.”
