A heroic teenage surfer saved a fisherman from treacherous waters.
Cooper Lysinger, who is just 18 years old, was out catching waves when he spotted the danger.
The fisherman had been on the rocks nearby when a huge wave swept him in.

Cooper, a nursing student, saw what happened to him and sprang into action.
“I was taking part in a surf competition,” Cooper, from Ocean City, New Jersey, told Need To Know.

“I was watching the contest from the beach after my heat was finished and saw a giant wave wash two fishermen over the jetty into the water.
“I knew they were in danger.
“My instincts took over and I sprinted down the beach as fast as I could.
“I paddled out to one and as I approached I could see he was definitely flailing.
“I threw him onto my board and let the waves take us in.”
The second fisherman was rescued on the other side of the rocks. Thankfully, both seemed fine afterwards.
Cooper said: “They were ok but seemed a bit rattled at what had happened.
“My guy needed to be rescued because he was wearing waders and they filled up with water.
“This made him sink and this also made it a lot harder to swim.
“After the rescue, the contest continued as normal and the day turned out to be beautiful.”
The rescue took place at the Avalon Jetty, in Avalon, New Jersey.
Cooper shared a video of the rescue on his Instagram.

The clip, filmed by teacher Jordan Geller, shows him paddling over to the fisherman.
The man can be seen treading water and attempting to get his head and arms above the waves.
As Cooper gets closer, a huge wave washes over both of them but luckily, drags the fisherman towards him.
As the teenager pulls him onto his board other surfers gather near to help.
He captioned the post: “Absolutely wild rescue today during the contest at the Avalon jetty.
“Happy that the fisherman and everybody else involved was alright.
“Twas a fun day though! Surfed four times, went to Wawa four times, and completed approximately four statistics questions.
“Successful day with the homies.”
It has gathered over 20,100 views, 400 likes and plenty of comments from fans.
