A care worker has been strangled to death allegedly by her colleague for rejecting his advances just eight days after her wedding.
Married, mum-of-four Cintia Ribeiro Barbosa turned down Marcelo Junior Bastos Santos’ attempt to kiss her, it’s said.
When Cintia, 38, rejected Santos, 28, he allegedly strangled her in a chokehold from behind.

The alleged murder took place while the pair was caring for a bedridden elderly couple in their home.
Police spokesperson Carlos Alfama explained: “He thought the victim had died and went to another room.
“Suddenly, he realised that she had regained consciousness and was trying to run away.”
The suspect then grabbed Cintia and allegedly strangled her again with masking tape.

Alfama stated: “He strangled the victim with this masking tape to ensure she would die.”
The police said they found a lot of blood at the place where he allegedly strangled her the second time.
The only people in the house were the two care workers and the bedridden couple.
The suspect then dragged the victim’s body outside and threw it over a fence into a neighbouring property in Goiânia, Brazil, on 4 November.

He told the police that he jumped over the fence of the vacant house to then conceal the corpse from view.
Cintia’s body was found with tape still wrapped around her neck and hands.
The suspect was arrested the following day and reportedly confessed to the crime in detail.
According to the police, he admitted to killing Cintia for rejecting his advances and slapping him across the face.
He also described how he allegedly killed her and concealed the body.
Alfama said: “He confessed to the crime in detail and confirmed what the security cameras also showed us.
“He acted alone.”
The suspect has a criminal record for drug trafficking, domestic violence and theft.
He currently faces charges of femicide as the investigation continues.
A friend of Cintia’s said she had worked for the elderly couple for six years, as reported by Need To Know.
It’s unclear how long she has been working alongside the suspect.
Cintia would have turned 39 years old on 9 November.
She married her long-term partner on 26 October, just eight days before her death.
She leaves behind four children.
