He then proceeds to throw the frightened animal off the bridge and into the murky water below.
The dog’s squeals turn to eerie silence.
Henry apparently dusts off his hands and watches his pet struggle in the water.
According to reports, there were young children on the bridge at the time.
The shocking scenes were filmed in San Miguel in El Salvador on Monday (November 18), prompting multiple complaints from outraged locals.
As a result, an investigation was launched by the Animal Protection Unit of the National Civil Police.
Henry was quickly tracked down and placed under arrest.
Godzilla was barely alive when rescued from the river.
Vets are providing specialised care to the poor canine at the Animal Welfare Institute.
As well as nearly drowning and sustaining multiple injuries, they said Godzilla had obvious signs of previous abuse and trauma.
The authorities confirmed that Henry is the dog’s owner.
The suspect faces charges of animal abuse under Article 261-A of the Penal Code, according to the police.
He could face a jail term of between two and four years if convicted of committing acts of violence against an animal.
The investigation continues.
