A huge fireball fills the street as buildings shake and a car alarm is set off further along the road at around 6:13 pm on Tuesday (November 19).
Fortunately, Herrera and his family were not at home at the time of the alleged terror attack.
He is the mayor of Carmen de Atrato in Chocó Department, Colombia, and said: “We were working at the Mayor’s Office, I live nearby.

“We heard a very loud explosion and immediately activated public security protocols as we thought it was possibly a gas blast.
“But when we saw it, we knew it wasn’t a gas canister, it was an explosive device thrown at my house.”
He added that he had recently been receiving threats from the guerrilla group the National Liberation Army (ELN), as reported by Need To Know.
The governor of the Chocó Department, Nubia Carolina Córdoba Curi, said on social media: “We reject the vile attack on the home of the mayor of Carmen de Atrato, Jaime Arturo Herrera.
“This is not the only act of terrorism that has occurred in the jurisdiction, which has seen the burning of buses from public transport companies and frightening citizens.
“However, this time the governability of a territory, its leader, and his family are also being attacked.”
The governor added: “An emergency security council has been convened to address this serious incident and carry out the corresponding actions.”

The police announced that they have arrested one person in connection with the attack as the investigation continues.
As well as facing increased terrorist activity, the Chocó Department has also been battered by weeks of torrential rain that has affected over 150,000 residents in 27 of its 31 municipalities.
