A MasterChef star, who was kidnapped with her husband, has been rescued.

Zahie Téllez, who is a judge on the TV series, was driving with her partner, Alberto Escobar, when the couple pulled over so she could dial into an interview.

But, shortly after joining a video call for the Mexican channel, Imagen Televisión, the reporter on the other line spotted something bizarre.

Zahie and Alberto’s car had been surrounded by a group of people.

Employees who worked at the TV station quickly reported the crime, which led to authorities taking immediate action.

The chef, on the Mexican version of the show, and her husband, were quickly located at a home in the municipality of Huitzilac, Cuernavaca, Mexico.

At the time of their kidnapping, they were close to Parres and had pulled over on the Mexico-Cuernavaca highway.

Neither sustained any injuries but were examined by a doctor as a precaution.

The chef and her partner were then escorted to their home in Mexico City, where they are now safe and sound.

The head of Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection said: “We received news from the Imagen media, that a person known on social networks was being interviewed and at that time it was reported that her freedom on the road was being taken away.

“A suspicious vehicle was found in the city of Cuernavaca, one person was arrested and two victims were released.”
