He proceeds to steal two bags from a couple at the counter before walking over to three other people and apparently taking their belongings.
The alleged robbery took place in the Colombian city of Cali last Saturday (Nov 23).
One victim said: “We were shopping when I felt someone pointing a gun at my head.
“When I turned around, I saw the criminal’s face.
“He was a white man with a beard.
“He threatened us and snatched my mum’s bag and my wallet, a gold chain, and a bag with my wireless headphones.
“Then he approached the other shoppers and stole their mobile phones, wallets and another woman’s handbag.”
The victims contacted the police after the suspect fled the scene.
Officers were able to track down the man at a motel in the neighbourhood of Sucre thanks to the GPS information provided by a stolen iPhone, as reported by Need To Know.
The victim said: “As long as they don’t destroy this type of iPhone, they provide GPS information, which is why we were able to later track him down to a seedy motel in Sucre.
“We then saw the motorbike used in the robbery.
“When the police entered, they found the stolen mobile phones inside a bag left on the roof.
“On the stairs, they found the stolen wallets and bags.
“There were also various documents, ID cards, and bank cards.”
The officers’ quick response was key to tracking down the criminal and retrieving the stolen items, which were duly returned to all the victims.
The suspect was placed under arrest as the investigation continues.
