A football match was interrupted after a gunman suddenly opened fire.

Players wearing neon pink shirts among many other people could be seen running as they feared for their lives.

The loud and ominous rumble of the gun echoed throughout the scene.

Concerned voices of women could be heard, with one shouting: “To the floor” in a panic.

The shakiness of the footage highlights the urgency of those caught up in the moment as they rush to get to a safe place.

People managed to cross a street next to the football pitch and run inside a shop for shelter.

A woman and a young boy are seen in the video heading inside.

Several children were allegedly in attendance at the match, which took place in the Alturas del Sur neighbourhood, in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico.

The shop owner used steel curtains which were installed at the front of the shop to protect those inside.

Occurring on Monday (Nov 25) night, the target of the attack was actually a home on a nearby street.

At this property, several slot machines had been installed which enabled it to operate as a mini-casino.

With the football game taking place near where the gunfire erupted, people were forced to seek shelter.

It has been reported that the attack injured one man, identified as Victor Iván ‘N’.

The 41-year-old man was transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Minutes before this shooting, armed civilians perpetrated another attack on an apparent mini-casino located a few blocks away, as reported by Need To Know.

Only material damage was caused by the bullets that had collided with the building.

Hours before these incidents unfolded, surveillance systems in the city were targeted by men on motorcycles and in cars.

According to data shared by Gerardo Mérida Sánchez, the head of the Secretariat of Public Security, 65 surveillance cameras were hit by gunshots.

Devices in several neighbourhoods have been affected by the attacks which took place in the early hours of the morning on 25 November.

To repair the damage caused, the SSP warned that a period of between one month and 45 days would be necessary.
