Seconds later, he bends over and picks up a dropped coin.
The dad – called Carlos – and his daughter then prepare to cross the road when, suddenly, a speeding car hurtles past them.
It sprays the pair with dust as it misses them by a whisker.
If they had not halted to get the coin they would have been struck by the motor and killed, he said.
The right side of the vehicle is on the tarmac and its left half is on the roadside as it straddles the white line.
The car swerves to the right, hits a mound of sand, and flips several yards down the road.
The dad grabs the girl before he and others run towards the vehicle to check on the driver.
The drama unfolded in the community of Redonda in Icapuí, Brazil, as reported by Need To Know.
It’s reported that the driver swerved to avoid hitting a motorcyclist in his path but lost control of the car.
Luckily, everyone, even the driver, emerged from the accident unharmed, according to local reports.
Carlos recalled to local media: “It was a matter of seconds.
“If we hadn’t stopped to pick up the coin, we might not be here right now.”
