A one-legged crook dubbed the ‘Pixar Guy’ was caught burgling a shop as the cashier dozed inches away from him.
Bizarre CCTV footage shows how the lawbreaker checked the coast was clear outside the small business.
Locals have given the suspect the nickname after the hopping lamp at the beginning of every Pixar film.
Leaving his crutch on the pavement, he squeezed through the tiny transaction window halfway up the security grille.
He managed to get inside the 24-hour shop without waking the dozing assistant from his slumber.
The crook dragged himself along the floor until he was just inches away from the man, who was fast asleep in a beach chair.
He reached over him and grabbed a mobile phone from the table beside him.
Then, he had a rummage through the till and snatched a wad of notes before hopping towards the exit.
He climbed back through the hatch, tumbled out onto the pavement, and collected his crutch before vanishing into the night.
The baffling crime took place in Paso del Rey near Buenos Aires, Argentina in the early hours of Thursday (16 Jan).
Local media say the suspect stole about 20,000 ARS (£16) from the business.
Owner Lucas told local media: “The assistant was really tired because his 8 pm replacement didn’t show up, so he had to work a double shift.
“This doesn’t usually happen. Our employees don’t sleep on the job.
“We didn’t realise the robbery had happened until 7 pm, 14 hours later.
“That’s when we needed to use the phone and couldn’t find it.
“We called the employee, but he didn’t know where it was either.
“So, we checked the CCTV footage and saw the entire manoeuvre the thief pulled off. It was unbelievable.”
Lucas is certain he’s not from the area, as reported by Need To Know.
The shopkeeper said: “They told us he might be from the Constitución neighbourhood. We’d never seen him before.”
