West-London based brand, Doughlicious, have just released a brand new flavour of cookie dough gelato bites – and it’s quite different from your standard chocolate chip flavour.
I have to admit, when I first heard about the Doughlicious Extra Flamin’ Hot Cookie Dough Gelato Bites, I was a bit skeptical. The idea of spicy cookie dough combined with ice cream however, sounded far too strange for me to pass on. After giving them a try, I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised.

The rather interesting collaboration sees Doughlicious team up with Extra Flamin’ Hot, which was created by PepsiCo, in addition to the limited-edition Walkers Extra Flamin’ Hot. You may notice that the box itself resembles those packets of crisps that you see on the shelf. The fiery red and yellow colours stand out, and the packaging is modern and fun, suiting the quirky nature of the product well. They are ready-to-eat and easy to store as they simply just go into the freezer.
Featuring a chipotle crumb, the medium-sized sphere shaped treat also includes bird’s eye chilli cookie dough, and ghost chilli infused gelato. As soon as I took my first bite, there was an instant kick. My immediate response to that wasn’t the most positive, but I persevered and I’m glad I did. Within seconds, the sweetness of the ice cream started to come through, and its coldness balanced out the heat. I continued to chew, and I quickly began to realise that sweet and spicy combined together was actually pretty tasty.

As well as the taste, the texture also stood out to me a lot. The gelato is smooth and creamy, while the cookie dough has a chewiness to it, with both creating a melt in the mouth sensation. This paired with the tingling sensation left by the Extra Flamin’ Hot flavour really made this a fun little snack. If you’re someone who enjoys a bit of spice, these will definitely hit the spot. But even if you’re not a huge fan of heat, I’d still recommend giving them a try. It may be that your experience is similar to mine, and that you end up surprised by how much you like the odd combo.
If you’re looking for a dessert or a sweet treat that’s different to what you would usually go for then I would highly recommend these. They are only available for a limited time though, and will be disappearing at the end of March.

They’re priced at around £5 for a box which contains six pieces, and can be found on Ocado, Zapp, Deliveroo, and GoPuff.
