A woman who went from a size 6 to a size 22 after getting pregnant says weight loss jabs have changed her life.
Before having twins, Nahid Mir was a naturally petite size six thanks to regular exercise and having a fast metabolism.
Following a difficult pregnancy – where she was diagnosed with preeclampsia – the 39-year-old’s weight doubled from 110lbs to 220lbs.

Nahid tried various diets and training plans but nothing worked.
As her self-esteem plummeted, she decided to try the Mounjaro weight loss injection – and it had a dramatic effect on her body.
“For the first three months, I was putting on normal pregnancy weight gain,” Nahid, who is a stay-at-home mum from Birmingham, told Need To Know.

“But then I developed preeclampsia.
“It can be very dangerous – I was told my kidneys could fail and my body was struggling.
“I felt like I was fighting for my life.
“Suddenly, my weight also shot up.
“I felt like I had elephant feet, I couldn’t walk.
“I remember a neurologist touching my face and body, and telling me that my water retention was insane.

“Before I had kids, I had always been naturally thin with a very small waist so the sudden weight gain affected my self-esteem really badly.
“I also suffered from severe depression.”
During her six-month appointment, doctors opted for an emergency C-section.
Thankfully, although two boys were born premature, they were in good health.
But the mum herself saw her mental health take a turn.

She said: “I was very self-conscious of my body.
“I didn’t go out and just stayed in the house.
“It was affecting my relationship with my partner and my kids.
“I couldn’t move much the way I wanted to or play with them.”
Nahid tried the Keto diet, fasting and even hired a personal trainer for six months.
She said: “I’d lose a couple of pounds and then they’d come straight back on.
“I was trying to walk a lot and work out but I was in pain.”
Seeking help from her doctor, Nahid’s claims her GP told her she “wasn’t obese enough.”

But then, a friend suggested going private for the Mounjaro jab – an injectable drug used weekly to aid in weight loss.
But the mum was sceptical at first.
She said: “I was scared for my health.
“I wanted to be there for my kids and I didn’t want to get any worse off.
“Like what if I got more ill or lost more mobility what would I do then?
“My friend encouraged me to just give it a go, and if I really didn’t like it or see a difference, then I could stop.
“So I thought, why not?”
Therefore, she started the injections, from the Goodbody Clinic, in October 2024 and is now, on her last month.
She has lost 74lbs in five months and is currently a size 12-14.

She said: “The first month, there was almost no weight loss but then bit by bit, it started coming off.
“In the third month, I started to lose weight drastically.
“Now, I feel amazing.
“I am more active, I can walk longer distances – it is fabulous for me.
“My health, mobility – everything has improved by at least 40%.
“The jab has changed my life and I have my confidence back.”
