Luckily, the pod toppled backwards, preventing more serious injuries to the two occupants.
The ride, named The Whirlpool, collapsed at the Monterrey Fair in the Mexican city of the same name.
Local Marlenne Casas, who was riding in the car next to the two victims, filmed it.
She said the operators stopped the ride after the accident to assist both occupants on Sunday (16 Mar).
According to Marlenne , the elderly woman and her grandson were helped off the ride with only minor injuries and did not require hospital care.
The ride has been taken out of operation as an investigation into the cause of the collapse is carried out, as reported by Need To Know.
One local said: “Why is it made out of wood?”

Another added: “The worst thing is that it was a grandmother with her young grandson.”
“That’s why I stopped going, my county hasn’t introduced a new ride in 20 years, if anything they got rid of some,” said someone else.
Andy remarked: “That ride was around when they were making black and white movies.”

Mari said: “It has been spinning since grandma was a kid.”
