Joey Barton claims he was banned from a bookmaker because of his views on women’s football.
The ex-Premier League footballer alleged that Ladbrokes staff in his local branch said he couldn’t place a bet there anymore.
The 42-year-old claimed: “Bit of a strange one.

“Just been in my local Ladbrokes, as I cut through to the golf club.
“Woman calls me over to the counter, been going in there infrequently over the last 15 years, 20 years something like that.

“Don’t really know the woman, she shouts me over, I’m thinking ‘I’m having a bet on The Masters’.
“I’m thinking ‘She gonna ask me for an autograph,’ you know, ask me can I do something, you know, usually what people ask me for.”
He also alleged: “And she says we’ve had a letter through from head office, an email through from head office, and you’re barred.
“The CEO or something like that because of my views on, I take it, women’s football.
“Very, very strange, but anyway, I found out I’m on the naughty list for wokebrokes. Oh sorry, Ladbrokes.
“So I can’t have a footy coupon or a Master’s bet or horse racing bet or whatever.
“So very strange.
“I’m now barred from Ladbrokes, so f*ck you Ladbrokes.
“Stick your red sign right up your jacksie.”
The former Manchester City and Newcastle United midfielder said he went to the bookies in Whiston, Merseyside, as reported on Need To Know.

He said he went to put a bet on Tuesday (8 Apr).
Barton has previously sparked outrage with his controversial statements on the standards of women’s football.
Ladbrokes has been approached for a comment.
