The whole axle came off from the back of a Ford Fiesta on a busy High Street.
Both wheels and part of the suspension became detached from the car.
The blue 2006 Freedom hatchback was parked up by the side of the street.

But it was resting on only the front wheels and the back bumper.
The wheels were left on the pavement next to it.
Three men – including who was thought to be the driver – were spotted standing next to the damaged £1,5000 motor.
Cops arrived to help and move the car to safety.
It happened on Peckham High Street, Peckham, south London, on Monday (21 Apr).
Locals were also left bemused by the motoring mishap, as reported on Need To Know.

One-named Alex said, “That poor Fiesta.
“What happened?”

Another added: “How does that happen?”
Pippa Musgrave joked it could have been sold by Only Fools and Horses’ secondhand car dealer.
She quipped: “One of Boycie’s special offers.”
A fourth added: “Can’t park there, mate.”

The Met Police has been approached for comment.
