A grandad has been butchered with a scythe in broad daylight over a child custody row.
Sebastião Fabiano da Silva, 59, was riding his bike through town when he was allegedly attacked by two members of the opposing family.
He had been locked in a battle with them over custody of his five-year-old granddaughter.

One of the suspects was armed with a plank of wood while the other had a long-handled sickle.
CCTV footage showed Sebastião hopping off his bike as the scythe-wielding suspect began to chase him.
The victim tripped on the kerb and fell on the street.
He was then bludgeoned to death.

The suspect was seen repeatedly striking Sebastião’s head with the bladed tool.
His accomplice then showed up with a large stick that he used to hit the victim’s motionless body.
They then made off with Sebastião’s bike.
The gruesome scenes were filmed in the city of Campo Alegre located north-east of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Tuesday (6 Apr).
The victim reportedly suffered at least 15 blows from the sickle, as reported by Need To Know.
Police chief Flávio Dura said the alleged murder was motivated by a family dispute over custody of Sebastião’s granddaughter.
The two families had previously been involved in violent clashes over the matter, according to reports.
Shortly after the attack, a teen suspect was arrested and taken to the police station.
Hours later, the police found his brother hiding in a thicket in the city and placed him under arrest.
A third suspect, the brothers’ father, currently remains at large.
He is accused of also being involved in Sebastião’s murder.
The child’s parents are not believed to be involved in the attack.
The investigation is ongoing.
