A young woman has shared the terrifying moment her skydive nearly ended in disaster when her parachute failed mid-air.
Nicky Harty bravely decided to take on the huge jump to raise money for a domestic abuse charity.
At first she said everything felt incredible as she hurtled through the sky at 120mph from 15,000ft.

But the experience took a terrifying turn when her previously chatty instructor suddenly stopped talking and started fumbling around behind her back.
That is when Nicky knew something had gone seriously wrong.

“In that present moment, I could tell something was going on,” Nicky told her followers via a video on her TikTok page.
“Something was not right.
“My skydiving partner didn’t talk back to me.
“He was just shuffling at the back of me, obviously at the parachute.
“I was like, ‘Oh f***, there’s something going on here.’
“He was trying to figure everything out at the back – little did I know what was going on.”
Nicky later learned her parachute had become tangled and failed to open.
She also discovered the scrambling she felt behind her was her instructor cutting the first parachute and opening an emergency reserve.
His quick-thinking actions saved both of their lives.
Luckily, the pair were able to land safely.
But Nicky was warned the landing was not going to be as smooth as expected.
She has only now learned just how close she came to dying after watching the footage back.
Nicky, who did the parachute jump just outside of Dublin, said: “So my skydiving partner was feeling my hooks in front of me and I was like, ‘Oh my Lord, this is really it for me.’
“In that present moment, I swore on my kid’s life.
“I’m like, death is coming for me.
“I’m going to die.
“I’m just going to fall out of the air.
“Nothing is gonna keep me up now.
“In my own mind, the parachute was f*.
“The man’s behind me was not talking, poking at everything.
“Like, I was falling to my death. I’ll never forget that feeling, ever, ever, ever.
“When I say I’ve been traumatised the last two days, you have no clue.
“I’ve knots in my stomach.
“I’ve not been the same person the last two days.

“Although it was amazing – falling out, jumping out – to actually expect your parachute to work and then have your instructor go silent…which I’m glad he did now, because imagine how I would have reacted then.
“Within seconds of that whole big fright, he literally came back to life with me.
“He started talking and he was like, ‘Yeah, you like it?’
“Thank the Lord above is all I can say.”
