But after finding out the car was electric, they had to search online to find its kill switches.

Electric vehicles operate using a high-voltage system typically ranging from 400 to 800 volts.
Contact with these voltages can be fatal, even in dry conditions, as reported by Need To Know.
The crash happened in Newton Abbot, Devon.
A spokesperson for Newton Abbot Fire Station said: “One appliance from Newton Abbot Fire Station was mobilised to reports of a vehicle fire within the local area.

“Upon arrival, crews actually discovered a Road Traffic Collision involving one electric vehicle that had gone through a low brick wall and crashed into a shed in a rear garden.
“Thankfully everyone was already free and clear from the vehicle prior to our arrival and no injuries had been sustained.
“Crews utilised our Mobile Data Terminal to find the isolation locations and kill switches for the high voltage systems in order to make the vehicle safe.

“Due to the damage sustained, the crew had to use spreading and cutting equipment to remove the bonnet so that they could access these systems.
“This therefore allowed crews to make the vehicle and scene safe.”
Locals were bemused by the smash.
John Uglow said: “Probably a good idea to put an easily accessible kill switch on electric vehicles as they do with competition vehicles.

“Not rocket science is it?”
Paula Bell added: “Not the first EV to do this, is it a coincidence?
“There was a report on TV that showed a car hit a neighbour’s wall fence and hit their car causing structural damage.
“He still doesn’t understand to this day.”
And Liza Hemmings said: “Good to hear no injuries were incurred.

“It could so easily have been a different outcome.”
