A 17-year-old girl died after eating a cake delivered to her by a motorbike courier along with a mysterious note.
Ana Luiza de Oliveira Neves’s sister received the package containing the cake-in-a-jar.
The note said: “A treat for the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.”

Ana Luiza arrived home at about 6 pm last Friday (30 May) and ate the dessert.
Less than an hour later, she began feeling unwell, with constant diarrhoea and vomiting.

Her father, Silvio Ferreira das Neves, arrived home at around 1:30 am on Sunday (1 Jun) and took her to a hospital, where she was diagnosed with food poisoning.
She received medication and IV fluids and was discharged after her condition initially improved.
However, at around 4 pm, Ana Luiza collapsed in the bathroom of her home in Itapecerica da Serra, south-west of São Paulo, Brazil.
She was rushed to A&E, but en route, she suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and arrived with no vital signs and signs of cyanosis.
Doctors tried to resuscitate her, but their efforts were unsuccessful, as reported by Need To Know.

A family friend reported the case to the police after Ana Luiza’s sister told their father about the anonymous delivery.
The police said on Tuesday (3 Jun) that they had identified a 17-year-old girl as the suspected sender.
They had tracked down the courier after reviewing CCTV footage and had obtained her address from him.
She initially denied involvement but, after hours of questioning, confessed to lacing the cake with arsenic trioxide, which she had bought online.
She also admitted to sending a poisoned cake to another girl of the same age on 15 May.

The first victim, who also received a note similar to the one Ana Luiza got, fell ill and was hospitalised but survived.
The suspect claimed she had only wanted to “scare” the girls and had never intended to kill Ana Luiza.
Chief inspector Vitor Santos de Jesus says she showed signs of low self-esteem and harboured “anger” and “jealousy” towards Ana Luiza.
She also claimed her first victim had caused two of her boyfriends to leave her.
The suspect and Ana Luiza were friends and had had a sleepover on Saturday night.
Silvio said, “That girl stayed over at our house. She saw the whole thing unfold.
“She saw Ana Luiza getting sick, saw me taking her to the hospital, and the next day, she watched my daughter collapse in the bathroom, and didn’t show any reaction at all.”
Ana Luiza was laid to rest in Itapecerica da Serra on Tuesday (3 Jun).
Silvio said, “She was a quiet girl with just a few friends. An innocent girl. Maybe that’s why she ate that cake, without seeing any danger or cruelty in people.”
The suspect has been transferred to a young offender institution.
