There are four separate larger circles on the outside, and three of them were occupied with performers – one of them being the man.
Each person walked and held onto the steel bars for support as their movements aided the turn of the wheel.
In a video, the man appeared to fall out of his circle as his part of the wheel neared the ground.
He stepped on the floor before he grabbed onto the structure in an attempt to jump back into it.
The wheel moved quickly back upward and he lost his grip which caused him to plummet to the ground.
Many people were sitting in the audience, as they groaned at the horrifying scene.
The man landed on his back, and at one point had his legs bent in an awkward position.
He lay extremely still as the wheel came to a stop, and a staff rushed over to help him.
A video filmed by an attendee showed several people running to the man who hardly moved.
The man was sent straight to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, as reported by Need To Know.
Luckily, it was found that he did not suffer any serious injuries.
Local press have reported that the man is currently resting and has taken a short break from performing as part of the circus.
The accident occurred yesterday (5 Jun) during the Chimelong International Circus’ performance.
Their shows take place at the Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort, in Zhuhai, a city in Guangdong Province, China.
