A driver was seen clambering out of a Mercedes after allegedly crashing it while holding a laughing gas balloon.
The black Merc appeared to have flattened one barrier before crashing into a second barrier on the opposite side of the road.
A hooded man, dressed in all black, climbed out of the vehicle clutching the balloon.
He threw it back in the car and ran away.
Seconds later, a confused looking man got out of the passenger side.
It happened in Cotton Street, Poplar, east London.
The man who filmed the clip can be heard saying: “What the f*ck, there’s a G -Wagon there as well”.
One local said: “They run away when obviously the car has to be registered in their name and address.”
Another person added: “Wait, is it nitrous balloons or are they smoking something and blowing it into a balloon?”
A third person said: “He didn’t even put the balloon down.
“Let me put my fingerprints on and throw it in the back.
“Still never find him.”
Nicholas Sheehan added: “It sadly seems like drug driving is far worse now than drink driving ever was.”
Another said: “Man wouldn’t let his balloon go even after stacking his car.
Stuart Chambers added: “Surely worse than drink driving I’d say.”
The Metropolitan Police has been approached for comment.
