The cops made sure the pilot and crew were safe and quipped about him not having insurance.
The marked police car blocked the country road while they dealt with the unusual situation.

A force spokesperson said: “Sometimes efforts to cheer us up while on duty are all just hot air.
“But this rare sight certainly did the job.”
It happened on the outskirts of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, as reported on Need To Know.
“Our Wisbech Neighbourhood Policing Team were on patrol in rural villages when this hot air balloon landed on the Cambs and Lincs border.
“We told the balloon pilot he couldn’t park there, mate, and joked that he didn’t have insurance.”

They added: “On a serious note, we made sure the crew were safe while the balloon was being put away while on the road.
“The pilot sometimes takes off from Thorney and, depending on which way the wind blows, ends up in our area.
“We always say ‘hello’ when we can.
“And it’s the rare occurrences like this that make no two days the same in policing and give us a little boost while on shift.”
Locals joked about the police involvement on Monday (16 Jun).
One-named Micky claimed: “Same one that bounced out of my paddocks a few months back.”

Another quipped: “Ask him if he can see my tools robbed out of my van from up there.”
